ALIX LE JUGE, KRISHNA LUCHOOMUN

A symphony of colors signed by Alix Le Juge and Krishna Luchoomun takes us on a journey through the magical element of water to the depth of the ocean, laden with memories and dreams.
The ocean that separates us also connects us to the shores of our ancestors. Some came freely, some were enticed, others by force, through perilous journeys. Their cries, their pain, and despair are still buried in the waters of the Indian Ocean and awaiting deliverance.
“In one drop of water are found all the secrets of all the oceans.” Kahlil Gibran. The voice of the ocean speaks to the soul, the two artists strive to decode this voice and bring to the surface the stories that connect us, stories of suffering but also hope. Tears, sweat, and blood of explorers, sailors, pirates, slaves, indentured and settlers mingle in the waves, resonate on the shores and nourishes our land. A melting pot of various cultures, religions, traditions, and languages where creolization challenges differences to forge a national identity with a difference as a force. On this land, across the oceans, we are all connected.
With imagination and creativity, the artists revisit our history intimately linked to the sea and reveal the spiritual and healing power of the ocean.
